Season Kicks Off at MWI

Ravens Inline Hockey entered five teams into the Mount Wellington Panthers Invitational this year to compete against other club teams from around the country.

The four junior teams have had an excellent tournament, with the Under 12, Under 14 and Junior Women coming away with third placings. The Under 10 team playing their first event for 2018 represented the club well under the guidance of their coach and manager. The club congratulates all coaches, managers and our precious players for their commitment and sportsmanship. Thanks to parents who made the effort and took the players to Auckland for the long weekend.

The Ravens Senior Social team entered into the Senior Division and have shown that they too are developing into a “force” to be reckoned with. While not placing in the top three, they have improved their game and goal averages compared to last year. Their highlight was a narrow loss (3 - 2) when playing the NZ Vets team, met their expectations and scored at least one goal against each team they met. Four of the Ravens Social team members are leaving for the Czech Republic in May to compete as members of the NZ Veterans team at the FIRS World Cup. They are Richard Huffam, Todd Velvin, Craig Flood and Gary Toa.
