School League Fun

School League is thriving again with new players  gaining experience along-side more experienced players who provide role models and assist with development .

School League was a pre-cursor to the establishment of the international sized rink at East End. The growth of the sport in Taranaki created a need to investigate and subsequently build a inline hockey sized skate arena. The impact of school league and players who have moved on to club hockey has been amazing.

The pandemic  prevented the league for continuing for a short time. Starting in 1997,  Covid stopped play for two years - but we are back and building again thanks to some new families and players  joining our current membership, committed to the sport and the club.

It is no easy task preparing for school teams to play each week and encouraging new players to give the sport a try. The club have been loaning safety gear to players to start them off with an expectation players will eventually move to self owned gear if they continue on and join the club.

A huge thank you to Davina, who has led the coordination of the weekly games over the last two school terms. To all the volunteers who have helped with the games on the “day”, coaching, refereeing, organising, our sincerest thanks.

The inline season is about to get underway, we encourage you to join up and continue on your pathway and play for the Ravens Inline Hockey teams. The sport is filled with fun, friendships, skills and best of all we have amazing coaches giving up their time to support our player development.
